About this course

his course explains how to safely update Frick Quantum HD Unity compressor software and firmware in industrial refrigeration systems.

It is intended for refrigeration technicians, controls technicians, maintenance personnel, and engineers responsible for compressor operation, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Software updates matter because compressor controllers are part of a covered process under OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Programs (RMP). Improper updates can reset safety setpoints, alter control logic, or create unsafe operating conditions.

The course covers software update risks, regulatory considerations, obtaining and reviewing update files, pre‑update preparation, performing the update, restoring and verifying setpoints, recalibrating sensors, validating safety functions, and final system sign‑off. Emphasis is placed on documentation, redundancy, and coordination with operations.

QTM 120 fits as a controls‑focused operational course that reinforces mechanical integrity, management of change (MOC), and safe system commissioning practices.
