This course explains industrial heat pumps and how they are applied within ammonia refrigeration systems to recover and reuse waste heat.
It is intended for industrial refrigeration technicians, engineers, and system designers who want to improve plant efficiency, reduce energy costs, or support facility heating loads using recovered refrigeration heat.
Heat pumps matter because they move heat rather than generate it, allowing systems to achieve very high efficiency measured by COP greater than 1, often far exceeding traditional heaters. When applied correctly, heat pumps lower total energy use and reduce condenser demand.
The course covers heat pump fundamentals, comparison to the refrigeration cycle, SMARTPAC process flow, major components, vapor conditioning, pressure management, and condensation prevention techniques specific to heat‑pump operation.
